  1. Hairy is definitely the pick of the crop. Love the artwork in those books. The Bone People is so intense, but a fabulous book. I don't think being inventive with language is a female thing: it's just a stylistic device. You probably don't come across it too much in Trollope. 🙂


  2. I'm glad my choice meets with the Kiwi stamp of approval 😉 We have borrowed so many of these from the library – at one point, my daughter could recite the 'Zachary Quack' one back to me 🙂

    I'd also have to say that I'm lucky with the Melbourne library system as I was able to get all of these with very little trouble!

    As for the female writer thing, I'm still not convinced – now if I had the time, money and education to pursue a PhD in Comparative Literature…
